Looking at this picture, all lightness and sweet, you could be forgiven for thinking he is a brown haired version of a cherub plucked from the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel...
But then...picture me attempting (the operative word) to teach Baha'i classes to a group of 10 children ranging in age from 2 to 6. While using an egg (raw, mind you) with a face pained to give it a bit of personality. I was trying to explain how people (the egg) can let life get them down, but when you demonstrate virtues (spoonfuls of salt) the egg will no longer sink as it is buoyed by compassion, kindness, friendliness, etc. All well and good, except that every other sentence was interrupted by me making wild dashes after Bayan as he: climbed on the furniture and window sills (mistaking the classroom for his own personal amusement park), attempted to stuff an odd assortment of items (specifically whiteboard markers and fingers) into the VCR / DVD player and created a graffiti mural on the back wall that would put many a high school delinquent to shame.
For his next adventure he ambushed a herd of baby elephants who were patiently waiting to have their photos taken before practicing for the ballet recital next weekend. Thankfully his sisters were among the elephants and all were gracious and forgiving.
Later that afternoon, while visiting Mehran's uncle and aunt (in the space of no more than five minutes mind you) Bayan got his foot caught in something that could have easily broken his leg, reprogrammed numerous electrical appliances, played Russian roulette with the Persian samovar, and came scarily close to burning their house down by igniting the gas pilot for their heater and attempting to set the light cord on fire... And yet you can't help but love him.
