Anisa's Maths

I had to take this picture after Anisa had spent the better part of the afternoon, nearly two hours to be precise, plugging away at her math book. (Her choice. This was what she wanted to do while Bayan slept.) After completing 24 pages we stopped here. It was on this page that she demonstrated exemplary thoughtfulness and compassion and yet academically missed the point of the page. Not to worry. There is plenty of time for all that, and she showed an understanding of something far more important than measly mathematics. As you can see there are five cats on the page and only four balls. This activity is all about grouping objects and looking at ratios, which has more, which has less, how many more etc. Well Anisa counted the cats and the balls and quickly ascertained that there was one more cat than ball. She didn't want any of the cats to miss out so she added an extra line and explained how two cats would share otherwise it wouldn't be fair and one might be sad. So sweet!
