Today I found:

• Anisa and Bayan in the girls room with a small tub of sour cream. They had just come out of the bathtub and were supposed to be changing and playing. I had been sitting with Ruhi helping her type when I noticed how quiet it was. (With small children, the sound of silence, usually, does not bode well.) Upon further investigation I find them crouching in Anisa's bed sharing spoonfuls of cream. While they managed to spill a copious amount across the sheets and blanket, as well as a grand smear across the pillow what was truly impressive was their personal appearance. (Remember they had only just finished their baths.) Anisa wore white splotches from head to toe (having - apparently - been splattered or flicked with the cream) and Bayan wore a thick, white, beard and two gooey, dripping "gloves", which would indicate that Anisa may have monopolized the spoon and that Bayan, in order to get his 'fair share' had either attempted to dive face-first into the container or that he had grabbed fist-fulls of cream and encountered difficulties when smushing them into his mouth (my money is on the latter.)


• Another tuft of grey hair (can't imagine why.)


• And some dried lavender we harvested from the garden years ago, which the girls and I have made into a monumental stack of "drawer scenters." These will be given to family and friends for Ayyam-i-ha.
